On March 19, 2013 the province's Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training announced details of the new BC Small Business Accord, which aims to ensure the provincial government is doing all that it can to help small business in the province.
Over the last five months, 35,000 BC small business owners shared their challenges and their needs with the Provincial Government. Through community meetings, surveys and social media, comments and feedback were collected and developed into the BC Small Business Accord.
The Accord features six guiding principles and six action items, which include reducing red tape, creating new training opportunities, and increasing awareness of the programs and resources available for small business owners. The principles and actions items were determined on February 5, 2013 by 15 business owners, representing various regions and sectors from around? BC.
Moving forward, the province intends to continue engaging small business owners and operators on Twitter through #BCBizChat or #SmallBizBC and through the BC SmallBusiness Roundtable.
